~ How We Met ~
August 9, 2003.
Ryan & Megan Dolezal's Wedding
I worked with Megan in the creative department at a small publication in Whiting, IA. I was planning to move to California in July, but one week before the move, my car died and I had to change my plans and push the trip back a month and a half (at the time it was tragedy, I was sure I was never going to get out of here and that's all I wanted!) Because I was going to be around in August, I was able to go to Megan's wedding. As the wedding drew closer we were working on project together and I told her I needed someone to swing dance with. "One of my ushers can swing dance..."
I showed up first to the reception, because I lived nearby and took a shortcut, and met the host and hostess - Adam's parents (Jerry welcomed me and pointed me towards the alcohol). I sat with co-workers who left early, and even though I didn't know anyone else there, I couldn't bring myself to leave. All the people I didn't know were having so much fun that I wanted to be a part of it! I lingered near the dance floor finishing my wine and trying to will someone to ask me to dance. Someone finally did - Eric Pfeifer, Adam's brother. After awhile Megan pulled Adam up and said here's the guy who can swing dance...
Adam ditched his date for me and kept me dancing all night. After walking me out to my car he asked me on a date and took me out the next week. We hung out all month, both knowing I was moving and thinking it was just a fling...and then I moved to California in September...
It wasn't until I came home at Christmas that we realized it was for real (I had to convince him that long-distance relationships can work) and made it official. The rest, as they say, is history.
~ After the Wedding ~
HONEYMOONS!
We're lucky enough to be going on TWO honeymoons, and to have them already planned out for us! Michelle and Agnese (both members of our wedding party) have taken all the work out of figuring out a honeymoon by having destination weddings that we wouldn't miss for the world!
The weekend after our wedding Agnese and Neil are getting married at Sandals in Jamaica, and three weeks later Michelle and Jamison are getting married in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
HOME...
After the honeymoons we will come home to Dakota Dunes, SD, a master-planned community just across the river from Sioux City, IA. Adam bought this house in June of '05 and I'm excited about moving in and making it home!
